Gross Tonnage(G/T)

Gross tonnage.
_BR_ Total interior volume of a ship — the total interior volume of a ship enclosed by its hull, deck, structures, etc., divided by 100 cubic feet.
This number is used to compare the size of merchant ships and the shipping capacity of different countries, as it expresses the volume, or size, of a ship.
It is also used to establish various regulations and fees for ships, such as customs duties, registration taxes, wharfage, pilotage fees, and entry fees.
It is also the basis for customs duties, registration taxes, wharfage, pilotage fees, harbor entry fees, docking fees, etc. (Towing fees are based on G/T). (Towing fees are combined with G/T and time).
